North Carolina State Archives, Raleigh, NC.<\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>By 1900, Anthony was renting a home in Durham NC and he had taken on a lodger by the name of Jabe Atwater (relationship to Anthony unknown).<sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote modern-footnotes-footnote--hover-on-desktop \" data-mfn=\"6\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"0000000000000bf90000000000000000_2716\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-0000000000000bf90000000000000000_2716-6\">6<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-0000000000000bf90000000000000000_2716-6\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"6\">1900 US Census Durham<\/span> According to Durham City Directories, Anthony was residing on Sparkman Alley.\u00a0 As Durham grew, new homes were added and street numbers routinely changed.\u00a0 Anthony\u2019s home was no exception, having the number 115, 117, 905, 911, and 913. During these years Anthony worked as a day laborer and millworker.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Anthony died at the approximate age of 75 on 30 March 1927 due to Nephritis with a secondary diagnosis of myocardial insufficiency. He was buried at City (a.k.a. Geer) Cemetery by City Funeral Company.
